How could I transfer Scouts story to my story?

I guess I could have Joey be Scout and me be Jem, and everything would change about our story... because we do nothing that they do in the book. I probably wouldn't be friends with scout if she was in my neighborhood because she's racist,  and that's just not me. I wouldn't be friends with dill either, I might be friends with Jem, because he seems like he has some common sense. Truthfully the only person I would be friends with in this book would be Atticus.

I like this saying by Mary Oliver because the way that I interpret it is, live your life right.... so that when its your time to go, you can tell your story to your grandchildren, and not feel any remorse about how you lived your life, and have no regrets about the decisions you made.
